General information
- A visa is a permit to enter and stay in Norway for a limited period of time. Citizens of Ukraine require a visa when entering Norway.
- Norway is a member of the Schengen cooperation. Nationals of countries participating in this cooperation may travel freely between the member countries. The same applies to foreign nationals holding a residence permit in one of the member countries, or that have been granted a visitor’s visa (up to 90 days duration) to the Schengen area. The 25 member states are Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.
- The Norwegian Embassy in Kiev issues Schengen visas to citizens and residents of Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova for travel to Norway. We also handle applications for work, study and residence permits. Such applications are always forwarded for decision to Norwegian immigration authorities (Directorate of Immigration, UDI).
- By agreement, the Embassy of France in Minsk is authorised to issue Schengen visas to Norway for citizens and residents of the Republic of Belarus.

How to apply

Visa applicants must register their application online through the Norwegian Application Portal. If the applicant is unable to personally register the application at the Application Portal, the inviting party may do this on behalf of the applicant. Upon registration and payment of the visa fee, the applicant will be prompted to book a personal appointment at the Embassy for submitting passport and required documents. Required documents are listed on the page Types of visas and other permits.
- NB! The Embassy does not take responsibility for documentation related to visa applications received by mail, e-mail or fax. All applications and related documents must be submitted personally at the Embassy.
- Applicants are advised not to buy a ticket until a visa decision has been made.

Applicants appearing at the Embassy without an advance appointment will not be granted a drop-in appointment. The Visa Section is usually fully booked 2-3 days in advance, sometimes up to two weeks. During peak season (April-August), sometimes up to a month. The applicant is thus advised to make an appointment well in advance.
Who can apply

Anyone can submit an application for visa or residence/work permit. Please note that the passport or the residence permit in Ukraine should be valid for three months beyond the intended stay in Norway, and that there should be at least two empty pages especially assigned for visa and/or permit stickers.
