Fishing most attractive holiday activity in Norway for Ukrainian tourists

The market demand in Ukraine for Norway as a tourist and holiday destination has been growing steadily over the recent years. This trend is supported by the number of tourist visas issued by the Norwegian Embassy in Kiev over the past few years - nearly 2350 in 2007 against 942 in 2006 and 730 in 2005.

It seems that the Ukrainian tourists who plan to travel Norway are looking to diversify the scope of their holiday activities there, and the demand for fishing holidays in Norway is picking up speed on the Ukrainian travel and tourist services market. While Norwegian fjords remain traditionally very popular with Ukrainian tourists, this year it was fishing opportunities in Norway that were in the minds of the more than 350 Ukrainian travel agencies and individual tourists who visited  the Norwegian tourist information stand during a recent tourism and travel exhibition UITT 2008.

This increased interest in fishing can be explained by the fact that Ukraine has long-standing fishing traditions and culture, whereas Norway, with its many deep scenic fjords and the nearly 2740 kilometres long coastline, is one of the best fishing destinations in Europe and an ideal place to rest one’s body and soul. Good luck and tight lines to you guys!
