Maritime industry

Shipbuilding and shipping are among the most promising areas of cooperation between Norway and Ukraine. Norway’s renowned shipbuilding, ship’s and fishing gear industries and technology have for many years been on the forefront of the world maritime market.

Ukraine has shipbuilding technical and human resource basis to offer. An illustration of successful Norwegian-Ukrainian partnership in the shipbuilding industry is a long-term cooperation between the Norwegian Bergen Yard company (formerly DOF Industri AS) and the Ukrainian 61 Kommunards, during which 5 ship hulls for supply vessels and trawlers were built in Nikolaev, Ukraine.
Another similar example is a contract placed in autumn 2004 by the Norwegian shipping company Havyard Leirvik AS with the 61 Kommunards shipyard for building of an icebreaker/supply ship in Nikolaev.

Participation of Norwegian producers of ship’s and fishing gear at the international maritime exhibition Odessa 210 in September 2004 in the Ukrainian seaport city Odessa opened a dialogue with prospective Ukrainian customers and partners.
