Last updated: 09/05/2012 // The Royal Norwegian Embassy in Kyiv has a vacancy as a locally employed visa officer/project assistant.The position is open for a qualified citizen from a member country of the European Economic Area (EEA)[1]

The vacancy is a combined position where the person will be working about 80% for the Embassy`s visa section and about 20% with the administration of the Embassy’s project portfolio. 

 Responsibilities:

  • Assessment and handling of visa applications in close co-operation with the Norwegian and Ukrainian staff at the visa section.
  • Assessment and handling of applications to the Embassy`s small grants program and monitoring of Norwegian supported project activities in Ukraine and Belarus.
  • Other case work, as required.
  • The responsibilities may be changed if the embassy’s need changes.

 Professional Requirements:

  • EEA/EU citizen.
  • Oral and written Norwegian, Swedish or Danish as the position requires communication with Norwegian citizens.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English. Oral and written Russian/Ukrainian is an advantage, but not a requirement.
  • Experience in working with visa or immigration issues and grant management and NGO outreach is an asset
  • Higher education
  • Understanding of Ukraine society
  • Computer literacy 

Personal requirements

  • Able to work quickly and reliably with little supervision
  • Customer oriented and Good communication skills
  • Flexible and able to stay calm and professional under pressure.
  • The position will be made subject to Norwegian MFA security clearance.

The position requires that the employee has legal stay in Ukraine.
