The Royal Norwegian Embassy in Kiev issues Schengen visas to citizens and residents of Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova for travel to Norway. We also handle applications for work, study and residence permits. Such applications are received at the Embassy and forwarded electronically for processing by the Norwegian immigration authorities (Directorate of Immigration, UDI).
A visa is a permit to enter and stay in Norway for a limited period of time. Citizens of Ukraine, Moldova and Belarus require a valid visa when entering Norway.
How to apply
First step in order to apply for a Schengen visa with the intention to travel to Norway or Iceland as their main destination is to register your application on the Norwegian Application Portal (https://selfservice.udi.no/). Here you will be able to fill in the application form, pay the processing fee and register an appointment at the Embassy in order to apply for a visa or permit together with your passport and the necessary supporting documents. If the applicant is unable to personally register the application at the Application Portal, the inviting party may do this on behalf of the applicant. Required documents are listed in the documentation list corresponding to your purpose of travel.
The Application Portal is used for all types of application handled by the Foreign Mission, e.g: where the purpose is:
- tourism, visits to friends / family, business trips etc
- residence/work or study permits, family reunification
- entry visa for spouse
First time applicants must register as users on our Application Portal. Existing users can simply log on. Applicants will be guided through the application process which among others involves filling out the Schengen application form electronically (such as personal details, details of close relatives, the intended journey, etc.), pay the visa fee and book an appointment.
When registering an application through the Application Portal, the applicant must print out a cover letter from the Portal (this is possible after payment has been made). The cover letter should be enclosed with the other supporting documents when handing in the application at the Embassy. For more information about the needed supporting documents, please look at the checklist which corresponds to your purpose for travel.
The application is formally registered on the date you submit your passport with relevant supporting documentation. We will then start the processing of your application. You may nominate a person in Norway to register an application on your behalf. However, you are responsible for the application and have to hand in the supporting documentation yourself.
In case of fails in payment the applicant should contact the bank who issued the card to check whether there are any limitations for payment via Internet. The card could be in any currency. Payment will be made according to the exchange rate set by the issuing bank.
Please note that the payment amount is only reserved on your account, not actually transferred to the Embassy. Once you produce the relevant supporting documents proving that you are exempt from paying the visa fee, the Embassy will cancel the fee authorization immediately (and the money will be available for you to spend).
Applicants who are exempt from paying the visa fee will get the fee reimbursed (electronically) when submitting their supporting documents at the Embassy.
Applicants who wish a receipt for the visa fee can print this out from 'My visa application(s)' on the Portal. However, it is not necessary to submit this to the Embassy.
Applicants can also check the status of their applications on the Application Portal under 'My visa application(s).
Previously lodged applications will be stored on the user's profile and can be used as templates for subsequent applications.
Please note that the Embassy cannot start processing the application before all supporting documents have been received.

Appointments can be changed or cancelled (by the applicant) by logging in on the Application portal and select given application.
