We are happy to introduce you to the “New Ukraine” and to the great potential that lies in this country – revealed in this guide! We believe there are vast opportunities for increased cooperation between Norway and Ukraine within many areas.
Ukraine has a large and well-educated population. The market is big. It is a low-cost country. There are great natural resources. The economy will be growing. Ukraine is getting closer to Europe every day, and will become increasingly interesting for investment and business in the years to come, due to democratic and economic development, market reforms and European integration.
Fish export, IT outsourcing and the shipbuilding industry have traditionally been the most important sectors within Norwegian-Ukrainian trade. You will soon read more about the potential in these and other industries in Ukraine.
As a chamber with members who have worked in Ukraine for years, we are also aware of the challenges of doing business in Ukraine. Our experience in Ukraine is that these challenges are resolvable. You can find solutions to some of the challenges in this guide. Other, specific problems need to be considered as they appear.
The Norwegian-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce (NUCC) has a competent board as well as partners, and we have key contacts in each sector. NUCC will assist our members if they need help and guidance. We are a safety network if you encounter problems. We have good contacts among authorities in Norway and Ukraine, and we work closely with both the Ukrainian Embassy in Oslo and the Norwegian Embassy in Kiev.
The Norwegian-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce was established in 2008 to stimulate increased commercial cooperation between Norway and Ukraine. We work for the interests of our members, and have no other commercial incentives. NUCC encourages commercial relations between Norway and Ukraine, in order to promote our members’ business interests in the two countries.
By commercial relations, we mean trade (export/import), investment and cooperation within R&D and education. We also run a project, funded by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to increase awareness of the importance of transparency, business ethics and Good Corporate Governance among young managers and students; www.nucc.no/ye.
This gives Norwegian and Ukrainian companies a pool of potential employees to choose from, who have knowledge about the business culture in each respective country. NUCC helps you to build your network and we share information and knowledge.
We also assist in solving challenges. Moreover, if desired, we are ready to assist your company in finding a trustworthy partner in Ukraine through our Matchmaking Program: www.nucc.no/mmp.
We hope you find this guide helpful, and wish your company great success when doing business in the beautiful country of Ukraine. Please do not hesitate to contact us.
