Norwegian animated film wins Oscar

Norwegian animator Torill Kove has won an Oscar for her animated short film The Danish Poet.

28/02/2007 :: The film, which is narrated by Liv Ullmann, follows Kaspar, a Danish poet who has run out of ideas and travels to Norway to meet his hero, Sigrid Undset.

The Danish Poet has won a number of international awards since premiering at the Berlin International Film Festival in February 2006. The film was produced by Lise Fearnley of Mikrofilm AS in cooperation with the National Film Board of Canada

Torill Kove was also nominated for an Oscar in 2000 for her earlier short film, My Grandmother Ironed the King's Shirts.
