Світові лідери зберуться в Нью-Йорку на 71-й сесії Генеральної Асамблеї ООН, яка розпочнеться тижнем зустрічей на високому рівні, 19 вересня. «Генеральна Асамблея ООН є унікальною ареною. Я з нетерпінням чекаю розвитку міжнародного співробітництва та інтересів Норвегії на найбільшому в світі місці зустрічей», сказала прем'єр-міністр Ерна Солберг.
Прем'єр-міністр Ерна Солберг є лідером норвезької делегації на 71-й Генеральній Асамблеї. Головною темою цього року є реалізація цілей сталого розвитку (РЦСР), що світові лідери погодили в минулому році. Міжнародна взаємодія необхідна в ряді областей для досягнення цих цілей. Норвегія буде відігравати активну роль у пошуку рішень проблем, таких як біженці та криза міграції, насильницький екстремізм, безробіття серед молоді, поширення інфекційних захворювань, а також негативних наслідків зміни клімату. Управління морських ресурсів, просування прав жінок і, не в останню чергу, освіту та інші важливі питання для Норвегії.
"Більше двох мільярдів людей на даний час живуть у злиднях. Світ не має ніякого вибору, окрім як приділяти пріоритетну увагу поліпшенню якості освіти для майбутніх поколінь. Збільшення фінансування освіти є великою інвестицією, яку ми можемо зробити, якщо ми хочемо домогтися сталого розвитку в усьому світі. З метою вирішення в майбутньому, пов'язаних зі зміною клімату, конфліктів, безробіття і міграції, ми повинні мати високо освічене суспільство, "сказала пані Солберг.
Прем'єр-міністр є лідером адвокатської групи ООН з глобальних цілей в галузі сталого розвитку, які були прийняті в минулому році. Вона також є ініціатором Комісії Глобальної освіти, яка 18 вересня повиненна представити доповідь з рекомендаціями до Генерального секретаря ООН Бана Кі Муна.
Світ побачив величезний соціальний і економічний прогрес, від дати заснування ООН у 1945 році. Але сьогоднішня міжнародна ситуація також характеризується непередбачуваністю і нестабільністю, а в багатьох місцях права людини потрапляють під дедалі більший тиск. Саме тому міжнародне співтовариство потребує сильної установи такої як ООН, яка здатна впоратися із загальними проблемами з якими ми стикаємося, "сказала пані Солберг.
Члени делегації візьмуть участь у ряді зустрічей і подій для обговорення міжнародним співтовариством можливості внести свій вклад в десятиліття прогресу з питань демократії, прав людини, розвитку і міжнародного співпраці. Міністр закордонних справ повинен представити рекомендації про те, яку роль має відігравати ООН в майбутньому.
Тиждень високого рівня на 71-й сесії Генеральної Асамблеї ООН розпочнеться 19 вересня з саміту з проблем біженців і мігрантів, в якому братимуть участь пані Солберг та пані Лісхауг . Загальні дебати почнуться 20 вересня і триватимуть до 29 вересня.
Норвегія є головним організатором чотирьох заходів:
• Прем'єр-міністр Солберг проведе нараду з питання про роль жінок у запобіганні та боротьбі з насильницьким екстремізмом.
• Прем'єр-міністр Солберг проводить нараду з питань сталого розвитку океанів і «синьої економіки» .
• Міністр закордонних справ Бренде прийматиме участь у проведенні заходу з розмінування в Колумбії спільно з Державним секретарем США Джоном Керрі.
• Міністр закордонних справ очолює Трюгве Лі-симпозіум, де Норвегія повинна представити рекомендації до наступного Генерального секретаря ООН.

World leaders are meeting in New York for the 71st session of the UN General Assembly, which will open with a week of high-level meetings beginning on 19 September. ‘The UN General Assembly is a unique arena. I look forward to promoting international cooperation and Norway’s interests at the world’s largest meeting place,’ said Prime Minister Erna Solberg.
Prime Minister Erna Solberg is leading the Norwegian delegation to the 71st General Assembly. This year’s overarching theme is the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which world leaders agreed on last year. International engagement is needed in a number of areas to achieve these goals. Norway will play an active role in efforts to find solutions to challenges such as the refugee and migration crisis, violent extremism, youth unemployment, the spread of infectious diseases, and the negative impacts of climate change. Management of marine resources, promotion of women’s rights and, not least, education are other important issues for Norway.
‘Over two billion people are currently living in poverty. The world has no choice but to give priority to providing better education for future generations. Increasing funding for education is the smartest investment we can make if we are to achieve sustainable development worldwide. In order to meet future challenges relating to climate change, conflict, unemployment and migration, we need highly educated societies,’ Ms Solberg said.
Prime Minister Solberg is co-chair of the group of SDG Advocates. She also proposed the establishment of the International Commission on Financing Global Education Opportunity, which is due to present a report with recommendations to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on 18 September.
‘The world has seen huge social and economic progress since the UN was founded in 1945. But today’s international situation is also characterised by unpredictability and instability, and in many places human rights are coming under increasing pressure. That is why the international community needs a strong and relevant UN that is able to deal with the common challenges we are facing,’ Ms Solberg said.
Other members of the Norwegian delegation include Minister of Foreign Affairs Børge Brende, Minister of Health and Care Services Bent Høie, Minister of Climate and Environment Vidar Helgesen and Minister of Immigration and Integration Sylvi Listhaug. Representatives of civil society and two youth delegates will also be part of the Norwegian delegation at the opening of the UN General Assembly.
The members of the Norwegian delegation will take part in a number of meetings and events to discuss what the international community can do to ensure that decades of progress in the areas of democracy, human rights, development and international cooperation are not reversed. Foreign Minister Børge Brende will present recommendations on the future role of the UN.
The high-level week of the 71st session of the UN General Assembly will begin on 19 September with a summit on refugees and migrants, which both Ms Solberg and Ms Listhaug will be participating in. The general debate will begin on 20 September and will last until 29 September.
Norway is the main organiser of four events:
- Prime Minister Solberg is hosting a meeting on the role of women in preventing and countering violent extremism.
- Prime Minister Solberg is hosting a meeting on sustainable oceans and the blue economy.
- Foreign Minister Brende is co-hosting an event on mine clearance in Colombia, together with US Secretary of State John Kerry.
- Foreign Minister Brende is chairing theTrygve Lie Symposium, at which Norway will present recommendations to be submitted to the next UN Secretary-General.
